Christmas 2023 Newsletter - Merry Christmas!
Christmas is creeping up on us so if you are looking for a lovely gift for friends or family or for a pet why not come and see what we have to offer?
As we are a garden centre as well as a pet shop there is plenty to choose from if you are looking for a plant or gardening gift .There is a great selection of fantastic plant arrangements which are a great value and attractive gift – there are many different choices of bowls, tins and wicker baskets and trugs with hyacinths and cyclamen arranged in them – I love the smell of flowering hyacinths! They would make an ideal present for your mum ,your grandma , your sister or your aunt ( or any make relative who loves flowers!) Or maybe your teacher, your work colleague ,your friend ....they are such fantastic value ...the smallest one with 3 hyacinths in is only £3.50 and even the largest one in a lovely basket is only £17.50 ( I think you will find they are double that price in some garden centres!)
They make a great gift that will last way beyond Christmas if well looked after and who does not love the scent of hyacinths?
You could also imagine them as a great table centrepiece too ! If you check out the table at Wilfreds Deli here in Finkle Street you can see how that would look .

Inside the shop at Richmond we a bustling plant room where we have the poinsettias, indoor large cyclamen and Christmas cactus with some in Christmas tins to also make an ideal gift - along with a selection of other houseplants such as cactuses also in decorative pots
Did you know that both the arrangements and poinsettias are grown and produced by a local nursery so in buying from Meynells you are also supporting other local businesses in the area and you are buying better quality and well looked after plants too
Also inside the shop we have some lovely garden ornaments – some great fun bright coloured metal animals as well as some lovely stone owls – you can also find some garden gnomes at the back of the shop where there are also some practical gifts you could give to a green fingered friend – new tools or even some packets of seeds
If you have a wildlife lover in your life – how about a beautiful new bird table or seed feeding station - a lady recently bought a seed feeding station along with the seed feeders and the seed itself to give as gift for her father who had just moved house – a lovely idea and all available at Meynells. We also have a selection of items for general wildlife such as hedgehog houses and bug hotels that would delight a garden lover.
Of course we would not be a pet shop without plenty of treats and gifts for your pets !
As you can see from our window display we have some really fun Christmas toys – fluffy mince pies as well as more traditional santas , penguins and snowmen as well as some Christmas coloured tug toys and plenty of treat boxes and stockings too
It is also a great time of year to choose a new coat for the winter for your dog and there has been a fresh delivery of quality dog and cat beds available in both stores – upstairs at Richmond where you can also find cat towers and scratching posts – brilliant for a practical present for your pet! We have all different sizes of beds from small to very large and a range of soft and hard beds ,crate mats and cushions – in a range of materials and patterns from fleece to cotton and in bright or more traditional colours.
And if out of all of those things you cannot decide what is best – how about a gift voucher from us so that you friend or family member can choose for themselves?!
We still have a few cut Christmas trees and some potted and pot grown ones plus some fresh foliage and Turkish wreaths
